You Don’t Need to Do More... You Need to Come Back to You!

You don’t have to carry it all just because you’re capable.

What’s good friend!

Sooo yeah… It’s real easy to feel like you have to carry it all, especially when you’re used to being the one. The strong one. The capable one. The one folks lean on. But let me remind you: you can be strong and surrender. You can love people and still release the heaviness. You can be grateful and outgrow what used to be. You can show up for others and still choose yourself.

Every version of you; the tired you, the healing you, the intentional you is still worthy. You don’t have to wait for everything to make sense before you honor your own capacity. You don’t have to apologize for the boundaries that are keeping your peace, mind, and emotions intact.

In August, we’re reclaiming our energy with intention, with grace, and without feeling guilty. We’re making room for softness, for stillness, and for our own needs to be front and center. Because strength isn’t just about what you hold, I believe it’s also about what you lay down. And Friend, you don’t have to carry it all to still be everything you already are and are intentionally becoming.

And listen, I feel that culturally we are all evaluating what's working, what’s draining, and what we are no longer willing to carry so you are not alone.

Let’s really dive in here. What' I’ve learned through journaling is that if I don’t ask myself the hard questions and be prepared to make effective and intentional changes then nothing will change.

  • What feels overly heavy lately instead of a blessing?

  • What’s something I’ve been tolerating that I no longer need to?

  • What would my life feel like with more breathing room? (What does more breathing room look like?)

Also, be gentle with yourself.

Respect your body when it is asking for a break. Respect your mind when it seeks rest. Respect your soul when it reminds you that you are whole.

Shakeyla M. Ingram - Simple Reminder #12, Intentionally Here

Ripping the band-aid off here… Let’s stop living our lives by someone else’s checklist.

You don’t have to follow a timeline or plan that doesn’t feel right to you. You don’t have to shrink yourself to fit into someone else’s version of success. You don’t have to wait until it’s polished, perfect, or approved (I said this part for me sigh).

Take the damn trip. Say what’s on your heart. Take the pictures… yes, even the blurry ones. Kiss the girl you’re crushing on! Start the thing you’ve been scared to start. Wear the outfit, change your mind, laugh too loud, rest when you need to, and stop explaining your “why.”

Life ain't about performing, it’s about participating.

Let this be the season we stop looking for permission and validation to be free.

Until next time,
Shakeyla M. Ingram 💖

p.s. I challenge you to lean into one or all of these in August: your confidence, your courage, and your creativity. Pick one. Start small. Go big if you’re ready. Just don’t hold back.
