Showing Up in Every Space

Embracing Purpose, Impact, and intentionality!

What’s good friend!

This week I’ve been leaning in to Simple Reminder #79 from my book…

Let’s learn how to direct and focus our mental and emotional energy. While it's essential to stay connected with the world, we shouldn’t get so caught up in everything happening around us that we lose sight of the unique purpose we were chosen for.

Recently, I’ve been making a conscious effort to meditate more, grounding myself amidst the noise. It’s easy to get swept up in the chaos, but we can't forget why we're here. Meditation has become my tool for focusing my energy on what truly matters—my purpose.

Shakeyla M. Ingram, Intentionally Here: Here’s What Happens When You Show Up for Yourself

With this I’ve been thinking about how easily we can become consumed by everything happening around us—news, social media, the endless noise of life. This reflection has pushed me to be more intentional about meditating and grounding myself in the present moment. Meditation has been helping me direct my energy toward what I need my intentional actions to be, and it feels like I’m showing up for myself in new ways every day.

Additional, I’ve been guided to introduce a new section to the newsletter: Intentional Pulse. This will be a space where I’ll reflect on certain hot topics, current events, and how we can stay intentionally rooted in our values while navigating everything happening around us. I hope it gives you something to think about as you continue your own journey of intentional living.

#GoalFriends Making Intentional Impact

This newsletter is all about making an intentional impact, AND I want to make sure this isn't just about me. I know some truly impressive individuals who are out here making waves, adding new layers to the work they’ve already been doing. Let’s give them a little spotlight!

Crystal McLean recently launched a 501c3 called Money Box Academy, which focuses on teaching financial literacy to youth, empowering them to make sound financial decisions early in life. Check it out at Money Box Academy.

Fena Fenelon, a brand strategist, just landed a major partnership with the WNBA! She’s also gearing up for her annual event BLACKTOBERFEST, which celebrates Black culture and creates a safe space to challenge negative stereotypes within our community. Visit So Fenomenal to learn more.

Paris Booker, an organizational strategist, just launched her own coffee brand where she curates the blends herself! Where she personally roasts and grinds fresh whole beans and bring flavor together at Public Proof Coffee.

Qu'Derrick R. Covington, CEO and founder of The Tulsa Initiative (also known as the Purpose Speaker & Coach), just announced his first book and workbook titled Provoked Into Purpose. His book explores how every life experience—whether good or bad—serves a purpose in pushing us toward our true calling. Visit Provoked Into Purpose.

Skania Florestal, president of HBCUMADE, officially launched the HBCUMADE app, a social network for HBCU students and alumni! Alongside this, she launched OfferMADE, simplifying the job search process and connecting HBCU students with companies ready to hire. Check out HBCUMADE and OfferMADE.

Intentional Pulse

As we approach voting season, I find myself leaning more into my morals and value systems when selecting candidates. Voting isn’t just about choosing the person that everyone is talking about; it’s about choosing the one that aligns with the values and the change you want to see.

Now on another note, I have some celebrities I absolutely adore—but let's be real, they’re human AF! Lately, we’ve seen high-profile stars having to answer for crimes they’ve committed, and as fans, it’s easy to be disappointed. Here’s what I’d like you to remember: You are not them. Prayerfully, you didn’t do what they did! Just because you’re a fan doesn’t mean you should place them on a pedestal where they can shake the core of who you are, and also be okay with holding them accountable to what they’ve done.

And honestly...I sure do miss Wendy Williams covering all this mess!

Do you know that you have 30 days?…

Not even that… Because some states have already begun voting… and for my home state North Carolina, Early Voting begins on October 17 with Election Day on November 5!

Below is a map from CBS that shows what states have early voting!

Thank you for reading, but before you go…
